CDC reports cases of tick-borne disease on the rise

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) issued a report last May saying that cases of disease from ticks, fleas, and mosquitoes have more than tripled nationwide, growing from 27,388 cases in 2004 to 96,075 cases in 2016. In New England, our biggest worry isn’t fleas or mosquitoes, but ticks, which carry Lyme disease, anaplasmosis, and babesiosis.

BU Research sat down with Tamar Barlam, interim chief of the Section of Infectious Disease
